菩提心园

We had a city getaway on 15 Mar 2009 morning to Bodhi Heart Sanctuary
Jo1's Sunday school is having their morning session there instead of the usual temple. It's consider an outing for the children too. I decided to follow since I have never been there before and would like to make sure that she is safe. I drove there, but she followed the school bus provided. The route to this place has to pass by a private cemetery, I swear I will not drive there by myself at nite. Once we reached the place, a special smell stint our nose (cow's shit) that we rarely get in the city (that's what I told my kids). I tour around the place and took a few photos of outdoors and indoors.

Dancing for charity

Rehearsal at Dewan Sri Pinang (Jo1 standing 2nd from left)

Theme: "By the children, for the children"
Organized by: Greenapple Ballet Academy & Lions Club of George Town
Date: 29 Feb & 1 March 2009
Venue: Dewan Sri Pinang

My daughter was very excited when the teacher informed her that she will participate in a charity concert for the first time. When I asked her what charity means? She said charity means you buy a ticket as a donations and then later use the ticket to buy food....Ya, she was partly correct, she actually refer to charity food fair.

So, the reason I let her perform was b'coz it's a good stage experience for a good cause even though I know that I need to make transportation arrangement for practices, and self pay for the costumes. Moreover, it's close to the school 1st term exam week!!!

Anyway, being a supportive mom, I went to the concert on both days, and it was a fantastic show esp the finale. On Sat show, I was in the front row but too bad no photography with flash is not allowed coz they hired professional photographer and video taking. So, I ordered a DVD and some photos from the Ballet school, as a memorable for Jo1 to keep.

The proceeds from tickets sales will go to 7 Children's home in Penang-Handicapped Children’s Centre, Ramakrishna Orphanage, St Joseph’s Orphanage, Pertubuhan Thalassaemia Pulau Pinang, The Children’s Protection Society, Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti and Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya Pulau Pinang. According to the MC, their target was to raise RM50K, the good news is they managed to collect over RM70K. This means that economic downturn doesn't stop Penangites from doing charity...esp to the children in need.
