Formal school registration for Jo1

It's time of the year when Dept of Education has announced that children born in year 2000-2001 can go and register which school they want to study. Jo1 will in standard 1 in year 2008, but I have to decide which school now. As a mummy who sometimes "Kiasu" one I already get advice from my cousin who is a teacher, Jo1's school principal and a friend of mine.

Cousin's advice: Han Ming is the best Chinese school in Penang now. But too far away from my house. So, it's out
Penang Chinese Girl School which is the most famous one, but traffic problem due to most parents tend to drive their kids to school instead of school bus.
Shang Wu has started their morning school from Standard 1 - 6 last year. Will be a great idea if I want Jo1 to be in morning school, 4 classes for each grade.

Principal's advice: Whether the school is famous or not is not important. Convenient wise, don't send yr kids to school too far away and have to wake up very early and come home late. The study habit of the kids, parents, teacher play the most important role. According to her, if u go to a famous school and the kid not willing to study also wasted.

Friend's advice: Her daughter is in Convent. According to her, this is a very strict school, the security is good. With good headmaster, and teachers. They teach S'pore English and with homework. The only thing I don't like is this school is 100% female, no boys allowed. So, which mean if Jo2 cannot go to the same school as Jo1.

So, I am still undecide which school is the best....

Jo2's new word

Everyday, I enjoyed going home and see my little boy running towards me when I opened the door like welcome me. What he does is he will say "Paopao" (carry me) and open his arms wide wide and I have to carry him even though I know I should wash my hand first esp I just came back from outside. I am the one who set the rule saying that those who came back from outside MUST wash hand b4 can carry my boy boy, but now I am the one who spoilt it...HELP!!!

Chap Goh Meh (The 15th day of CNY)

This year Chap Goh Meh falls on Sunday, which is also the next day of Thaipusam. Since papa2jojo is on morning shift so we can go out together at night. We went to swiming club and I let Jo2 to swim in the pool for the first time. We cannot use the baby pool b'coz it's the pump is out of order and the water is dirty. Jo2 enjoyed it very much even though the water is cold. He was in the pool for less than 2 minutes and I can see that he really have fun. Jo1 had to swim in the big pool too, so it's a good chance to let her swim without her float.

Later, we had dinner there while waiting for the lion dance performance. Jo2 is not afraid of lion dance at all, so he walked very close-up to watch the performance, esp when the lion dancers walked passed the restaurant and heading towards the beach.
